Windermere Whatcom's Week of Giving

Windermere Whatcom's Week of Giving is upon us and we have two special charities in Whatcom County that we'd like to show support to. As we head into a new school year, there are essentials that children will be needing that Wild Birds Charity and Blue Skies for Kids work diligently to provide. Let's keep donations local and fund the future generations of Whatcom County!

Wild Birds Charity

Their mission is to make sure that no child in Whatcom County goes hungry this upcoming school year.

While many children receive free/reduced breakfasts and lunches during the school week, a staggering number experience food scarcity on the weekends.

Wild Bird Charity’s Weekend Food Bag Program bridges this gap for school kids in Whatcom County.

In the 2024-2025 school year, they provided over 30,000 bags of food to approximately 900 children.

They work with over 30 schools in Whatcom County, including those in Bellingham, Blaine, Lynden, Ferndale, and Mt. Baker school districts.

The number of kids who received weekend food bags jumped from 88 per week in 2019 to approximately 953 per week during the 2024-2025 school year.

Your donation of just $3.50 can provide a child in Whatcom County with 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 2 dinners, and several additional snacks for the weekend.

Blue Skies for Children

Their mission is to help families with basic essentials and provide growth opportunities they cannot otherwise afford for their children, that raise hope and self-esteem and allow each child to feel equal to their peers.
They hope to increase the capacity to grant Little Wishes for children in need through grants, donations, fundraisers and monthly program donors.
